Eurotas Parmelee Hastings was born in Washington, Conn. on July 20, 1791. He moved with his parents to Oneida County, N.Y. six years later. He went into the business world in 1805, and came to Detroit around 1825. There, he became president of the Bank of Michigan, 1825-1839.
